Happy Families using Friends and Family

I love my friends and family so when I saw this stamp set in the spring Summer Catalogue I just knew I had to have it! I am also very lucky to have my Stampin Up! family in my life and a fabulous team of demonstrators with whom I get to meet up with on a regular basis.

At a recent play date I was showing some of my recent class samples to one of my closest friends and long term Demo Hilary Wright and we started to lament that this set was soon to be retired and all the wonderful possibilities we still hadn’t had chance to explore. Almost instantly we came up with the concept of creating a modern version of a childhood game, Happy families and duly set about making one.

The cards were made using 12 x 12 Whisper White which had been stuck onto a sheet of DSP to create the right thickness and then cut with a stitched die to create the card shape. We added the figures and the coloured stars using the Stamparatus and then coloured each of the figures with blends. In our childhood game all the families were denoted by professions, but we wanted to create a more modern take and therefore used the colours. As we decided on the make up of each family we started to make up little stories and as we worked & coloured each family the background stories took on a life of their own ( well I think there is a little bit of us in there as well!).

We decided to make two sets of the cards so we could also use the cards to play Snap and some memory games with the children in our lives. I also think this is a fabulous project to do with children as they can have fun making up lots of different families or different games.  I have included all the products we used at the foot of this post!

This project that was only really possible because the two of us worked together and that completely  showcases everything I love about Stampin’ Up! and our Team. Despite our different ages, backgrounds and ethnicity, we are truly one huge group of friends/family/tribe (call it what you want!), because of our combined love of paper crafting. If you want to find out more about becoming part of our team then just click here

So without further ado please let me introduce our Stampin’ up Happy families. So lets start with …………

The Bermuda’s

Mr Bernard Bermuda (Berney) is a grand child of the Windrush generation, enjoys nothing more than visiting their holiday home in Bridgewater Bay. Bernie loves West Indian cricket and has finally managed to get MCC membership, after years on the waiting list. He often meets his close friend Mr Balmy to discuss all things cricket and catch up and share stories of their wives crafting activities. Bernie met his wife, Bernadette (Bernie), a former Miss Bermuda on holiday in BERMUDA BAY on route to visit to his ancestral homeland, he persuaded her to move to England with him, where they have set up home and now have 2 beautiful children. Bernie enjoys her monthly crafting date with her best friend Mrs Poppy, they attend classes provided by their local Stampin’ Up! demo, and occasionally host parties with their demo to share their love of crafting with friends and family.

The Balmy’s

Mr Baldwin Balmy, a doctorate physicist, is an (ex-)widower living in Surrey, he loves watching cricket and is a member of the Barmy Army, he tries when he can to meet his close friend Mr Bermuda to watch a match, and they often lovingly joke about their wives crafting ‘habit’.  With his first wife he has daughter who is soon to leave for her first year at Cambridge, where she hopes to join the rowing team, and to become a member of a successful BLUE boat crew – a BALMY BLUE.  Having met his second wife Barbara (Babs) at a research conference they have a baby son together, and when she can find the time, Babs enjoys a crafty session with her beautifully coordinating Stampin’ Up! supplies, which she purchases from her local Stampin! Up! demo whom she found online, she loves seeing the  projects and information posted / shared by her demo, and is often inspired to place an online order via her demo’s online shop for the supplies, product(s), suite(s), bundle(s), kit(s) or tool(s) she has seen.

The Lovely’s

A young and trendy family, they have just bought their first home together, in London, to coincide with the birth of their second child.  Mrs Lottie Lovely has just returned to work and enjoys lunchtime shopping trips and often ‘sneaks’ another red / pink shade into to her LOVELY LIPSTICK collection.  In their new home, Lottie enjoys hosting crafting parties with the help of her Stampin’ Up! demo, who presents new and exciting projects to Lottie and her friends, so she can share her love of crafting with them and with qualifying party spend Lottie can earn hostess Stampin’ Rewards, which she can use to select additional catalogue products or she can select from the hostess only stamp sets which can only be obtained using hostess Stampin’ Rewards.  If she holds a successful party in addition to additional rewards, Lottie also enjoys being rewarded with a 50% item; she chooses wisely.

The Pumpkin’s

Mr Pumpkin was once a famous pork pie maker, after meeting and marrying his wife, he moved to Surrey, where they set up home to bring up their son near her family.  Mrs Pualani Pumpkin is a vegan and introduced him to meat & dairy free menus.  Mr Pumpkin has understandably  changed careers and has become a successful vegan food critic and writer.  They enjoy hosting dinner parties and have become famous locally for the PUMPKIN PIE served at their Halloween parties.  Pualani uses the experience gained from attending the classes hosted by her local Stampin’ Up! Demo to create cards, invites, gift wrappers and home decor items, not only does this mean she has a handmade beautiful card available for her to use for most occasions, but the skills she learns at class she uses whenever she can (especially in making their parties unique),

The Punch’s

20190521_174420

Divorcee, single mum of two, Penelope Punch is a very successful cookery vlogger, and enjoys eating and cooking with her favourite fruit, especially a Pineapple upside down cake, her children’s favourite dessert.  Her vlog for her PINEAPPLE PUNCH, a refreshing and bright drink to serve especially in the summer, went viral.  As a crafter since childhood, once she found Stampin’ Up! products, she ‘fell in love’ with them, and became a Stampin’ Up! demo during a Sale-A-Bration offer, her demo became her upline.  As a demo, she initially only bought supplies for herself, but after a while, having thoroughly enjoyed the SU team and community, she started to share her love of crafting and the quality products, with friends and family and made new crafty friends via her own events, some of these customers have joined as demos under her (her downlines), she now has a team of her own.  She enjoys the support of her wider team in ensuring her own team have all the information and support they need to be successful in their own goals.

You might have noticed  that I have only given you the back ground to five of the families ….. So  if you want to discover more about the Poppy family (and the others), please take a look at my fellow demo Hilary Wright at  Wrightcrafts where she has the other half of the families. This has got to be the smallest blog hop ever!!!
